Description SHIFT: No Weekends SCHEDULE: Full-time St. David's North Austin Medical Center is part of St. David's HealthCare , one of the largest health systems in Texas, which was recognized with a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2014. The 378-bed multi-specialty, acute care facility is dedicated to the highest level of women's health services, including maternity and newborn care with Level I, II and III nurseries at the adjacent St. David's Women's Center of Texas . The facility also features a 24-hour emergency department, the Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery , the Bariatric Center, heart and vascular center, neurology and neurosurgery, a kidney transplant program, inpatient and outpatient surgery, and acute inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, among many others. St. David's North Austin Medical Center is also home to St. David's Children's Hospital . In 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016, the hospital earned a national distinction for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group . POSITION SUMMARY : The expert practice of the Pediatrics Supervisor provides for the daily operations and maintenance of the Pediatrics programs. This position is essential in coordinating Pediatrics services as part of an interdisciplinary team of caregivers. Operational responsibilities include the coordination of patient scheduling, staff education, postoperative after care, outcome management, physician outreach and customer service, revenue integrity, and capital budgets. Participates in providing patient specific care standards as directed, and follows service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES : Maintains, directs, and evaluates the activities impacting the progress of the Pediatrics program; maintains close working relationship with the Director of Perioperative Services regarding mission, development, and growth of the program. Operates in both an Administrative and Clinical capacity with approximately 40% Administrative work and 60% OR Circulating. Maintains expert knowledge of service specialty (procedures, equipment, supplies, surgeon preference). Establishes / Maintains direct, collaborative, working relationship with Pediatrics surgeons. Facilitates the flow of patient care services. Serves as a patient advocate. Assesses, evaluates, and problem-solves operational processes to ensure quality care is delivered with efficiency, congeniality and dignity. Works cooperatively with nursing services and ancillary departments to provide orientation material for all staff new to the Pediatrics program and provides for continuing staff education. Assesses the capital and operational needs of the program and communicates those needs appropriately. Assists in the identification of cost-effective approaches. Creates and priorities capital list for yearly budget review. Obtains quotes from vendors to submit to Director. Works closely with the Director of Perioperative Services to evaluate and address quality care issues. Works closely with Director of Perioperative Services to identify reimbursement issues and develop of strategies to address these issues. Attends and participates in health care system committees and department staff meetings as requested. Collaborates with OR staff and Surgeons to maximize operational efficiencies Communicates with vendors to ensure required supplies and equipment are available for procedures. Demonstrates accountability to metrics expectations including turnover times, first case on time starts and volume growth. Facilitates feedback from surgeons and collaborates with management to implement process improvements. Demonstrates effective working knowledge of equipment used in work area. Demonstrates effective guest relations with internal and external customers. Demonstrates knowledge of Meditech and general computer skills. Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information. Participates in budget control by using only those supplies necessary within the work area. Demonstrate an understanding of HCA's and St. David's \"Patient First\" safety initiatives through strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures. Works autonomously Sets priorities and makes independent decisions of a complex nature . Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Must maintain current knowledge of Pediatrics and how to work within a system to deliver multiple components of high level comprehensive care. Ability to communicate effectively to provide patient and staff education in an organized and understandable manner. Ability to organize, prioritize and manage time efficiently. Ability to adapt quickly and positively to changes in work methods, information needs and restructuring in the delivery of health care services. Must be able to demonstrate understanding of national patient safety initiatives by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures as required by both HCA and St. David's North Austin Medical Center. Required: Comprehensive knowledge of surgical procedures, techniques, Standards of Care, instrumentation, equipment, and supplies as they directly correlate to the specialty. Preferred: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Minimum of 3 years of Operating Room experience. Preferred: Previous experience with program coordination and development. Previous experience specific to Pediatrics LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES : Required: Current Texas RN License or a Compact RN license from a NCLA Compact State; BCLS certification Preferred: Certification preferred (CNOR/CST).
